CONTACT: Zee ZaballosSANTA CRUZ, CA (January 8, 1996)- CrossWind Technologies, Inc. today announced its Synchronize(tm) 2.0 real-time enterprise collaboration software. Synchronize 2.0's new multi-threading architecture enables Windows NT Server and multi-threaded UNIX server environments to deliver fast and easy enterprise scheduling for 50,000 users and beyond.
Synchronize 2.0 takes full advantage of the multi-threaded Windows NT Server, thus enabling NT to achieve the enterprise-scale groupware performance formerly associated with UNIX servers. Designed for cross-platform deployment across client/server TCP/IP networks, Synchronize is also available for all popular UNIX servers. The availability of the new Macintosh client version brings Synchronize to all enterprise desktops, including Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, Macintosh, X11/Motif, and ASCII environments.
"Synchronize 2.0 delivers the advanced coordination features, scalable performance and cross-platform flexibility that enable an enterprise to improve workgroup collaboration," said David Wellington, President of CrossWind Technologies. "Large enterprises that require a comprehensive scheduling solution can use Synchronize 2.0 to reduce project cycle times and support collaboration among team members in different locations. Enterprise users can schedule time and resources in real-time with Synchronize's multi-threaded architecture, E-mail-independent transport mechanism, and distributed databases."
Synchronize's advanced client/server design addresses an enterprise's collaboration requirements for a comprehensive scheduling and task management solution that is easy to deploy, use, and manage throughout the organization. Departments can assign databases to functional or geographical divisions so that Synchronize reflects day-to-day business operations. Users can rely on Synchronize for quick and easy meeting coordination and personal time management, group and personal task management, and shared notes. Administrators can easily distribute Synchronize's common database into many networked databases that take advantage of existing servers and networks.
Synchronize utilizes a common database that can be distributed across UNIX and Windows NT servers. Because Synchronize communicates directly via TCP/IP, access to critical information is instant with none of the latency associated with E-mail-based scheduling, file-based access methods, or slower transports. Synchronize provides the fastest access to group scheduling information, minimizes desktop storage and backup requirements, and is very straightforward to administer. Additionally, mobile users can use Synchronize as a standalone application and later merge information with the common database.
Synchronize is a powerful scheduling and task management tool designed for personal as well as enterprise-wide use. Synchronize boosts enterprise productivity by leveraging existing staff and resources. Synchronize is used today in leading enterprises around the world, including Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, U.S. defense intelligence agencies, and Wall Street firms. Synchronize was recently chosen as the scheduling and task management software for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) workgroup automation project, which relies on Synchronize as a key component in a geographic information system for 30,000 Forest Service employees in 795 locations.
